About

Jaime SteinJaime is the Senior Manager of Social Media for HootSuite, a social relationship platform for businesses and organizations to collaboratively execute campaigns across social networks.

He is the former Head of Social Media for Tangerine where he led the social media strategy and team for Tangerine (formerly ING DIRECT), Canada’s leading direct bank. At Tangerine, Jaime helped grow deposits by leading several innovative social media executions, including the ‘Looking for a new Ally?’ which was nominated for a Forrester Groundswell Award. He also helped mitigate risk by expanding Tangerine’s crisis communications capabilities by holding the first-ever social media crisis communications simulation in advance of announcing the bank’s new name, Tangerine.

Jaime joined Tangerine in February, 2012 after four seasons as Manager of Digital Media for the Canadian Football League. At the CFL, he was the primary strategist for content on the CFL’s digital platforms including CFL.ca, @CFL, Facebook.com/CFL, Google+ and Keek. The CFL stresses accessibility and authenticity and these were the traits that Jaime lived by while engaging fans throughout the online (and offline) world.

In 2011, Jaime completed his MBA, part-time, at the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto with a focus in Marketing & Strategy. He was selected valedictorian by the students of the Morning MBA Class of 2011 and he received multiple awards for leadership and contributions to the community during his three years at the Rotman School.

Jaime is a trained Journalist from Ryerson University, with work experience at TSN and the Toronto Argonauts Football Club where he was the team’s radio play-by-play voice for two seasons. He also worked as a media trainer on three separate military exercises for the Canadian Forces in Wainwright, Alberta.

A big believer in giving back to the community, Jaime currently sits as a board member on the Canadian Blood Services campaign For All Canadians, where he is helping raise $12.5M to build Canada’s national public umbilical cord blood bank. Jaime also recently served on the Ryerson University Alumni Association board as the Director of Academic Program Alumni Associations.

Jaime was a founding member for the  National Advisory Committee for Bone Marrow and Stem Cell Awareness in Canada where he worked closely with Canadian Blood Services to raise awareness for blood and bone marrow donation. He has hosted the Kerry’s Place Annual Fundraising Gala in support of autism services in Ontario three times and he served as President of the Ryerson Journalism Alumni Association from 2008-2010. In the spring of 2007, Jaime traveled to Arusha, Tanzania where he spent one month volunteering at Akeri Primary School teaching English to grade six and seven students.

Jaime is an avid traveler and photographer. His curiosity has led him to nearly 40 countries on five continents in addition to extensively exploring his great backyard, Canada.

Jaime lives in Vancouver with his wife and two sons.
